Unknown Bohemia
Following on from exhibitions on topics including Moravia and Prague Castle, the Architektur im Ringturm series turns its attention to the larger part of the Czech Republic, which – in spite of its cultural and historic significance – has remained in the shadows in many regards: Bohemia. Travelling along the Ohře, Elbe and Vltava rivers, visitors come across a wealth of architecturally striking buildings. The exhibition covers the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque periods, through to the architecture of the 20th century, with designs from the likes of Josef Hoffmann, Pavel Janák, Jan Kotěra, Heinrich Kulka and Jože Plečnik. Photographs, plans and stories represent an invitation to rediscover a country that is closer than many people think – yet still full of surprises.
